Four Ways To Greet

A game for movers and (hand) shakers.

Process: Best when there is room to move. Members of the group are invited to introduce themselves to a few of their colleagues. During the brief interactions, their mode of behaviour (their motivation) is that they couldn't care less about these people. How do we greet someone if we'd really rather not? What is our posture, what is our tone? The exercise is repeated three more times. Each time, the process is identical, all that changes is the "motivation". So, how might we greet these people if we are having an affair with their partner? Or what if they were our biggest customers? Finally, what if they are a long-lost friend?

Outcome: A game for movers and shakers. This is a fast and fun way to energise a room. Delegates consider how an individual's "back story" - their preconceptions - influences their interaction with others. This can be a useful "risk-free" reminder at the start of a conference.
